Mike's current focus at Cascade builds upon his 15+ years of experience in finance and technology as co-founder and CIO of Accial Capital, CIO at LenddoEFL Capital, and portfolio manager in EM fixed income at HSBC. At Accial, Mike and his co-founder started and ran an impact-focused private debt fund that did landmark structured credit deals for fintechs in Latam and SE Asia. Their firsthand experience running a private debt fund inspired them to build a Cascade, a SaaS platform purpose-built for private credit to streamline fundraising and loan operations while increasing transparency and trust for all parties.

His resume includes PricewaterhouseCoopers, Willis Towers Watson, Amazon, Resolve and numerous fractional CFO and advisory roles at early-stage technology businesses. Derek specializes in early-stage Fintechs with complex external funding arrangements. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and holds an MBA from IMD business school in Switzerland.
